Integration
Your organization deserves the freedom to choose the best application for each job — without compromise. just like a word processing application is not a good substitute for a spreadsheet application, an ERP/MRP/SAP application is not a good substitute for a quality PDM/PLM application. MechWorks PDM provides the foundation to securely manage your design documents, streamline engineering change communication, and ensure critical product data flows effortlessly across your business.
MechWorks PDM embraces open industry standards like .NET, SQL, and XML (avoiding proprietary name mangling and database file embedding/encryptions) to maintain vertical integrations. This open architecture makes it easy to automatically share Item Master records and Bill of Materials with ERP/MRP/SAP applications.
By eliminating manual data re-entry and disconnected systems, MechWorks PDM helps you save time, reduce errors, and avoid costly mistakes (like incorrect part numbers or outdated BOMs). Managed workflows ensure that updates are synchronized across all departments, so everyone is always referencing the most current, controlled data.
Designed to adapt to real-world environments, MechWorks PDM offers flexible workflows that align with your unique processes. By establishing a true Single Source of Truth (SSOT), our customers gain confidence in their data, improve collaboration, and meet regulatory requirements such as FDA, FAA, and ISO with ease. The result is faster decision-making, improved compliance, and a connected organization where design data is accessible, accurate, and trusted across multiple applications and able to be accessed from all departments.
Training
Empower your team to work faster, smarter, and with confidence by mastering MechWorks PDM and process automation. Our training programs are designed to help your organization get real value from your engineering data — starting at creation and extending securely across every department that relies on it.
We focus on best practices that matter most to your business: establishing a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) for design files and a Single Point of Data Entry (SPODE) for metadata. The result is greater accuracy, fewer errors, stronger collaboration, and improved productivity across engineering, manufacturing, and operations. Whether you're a small workgroup or a large enterprise, we customize our training classes to your business to ensure your team is aligned, confident, and ready to move forward.
In our experience, on-site training delivers the greatest impact. Training at your facility allows us to address real-world “what if?” scenarios using your actual data, workflows, and processes. Even more importantly, we configure your MechWorks PDM environment during the training itself—so your team leaves not only educated, but fully optimized and ready to work.
To accommodate scheduling and operational needs, we also offer online training (delivered in 2-hour or 4-hour sessions) and off-site training at local hotels and convention facilities to minimize workplace interruptions.
Our trainers are not just instructors — they are MechWorks PDM experts. We develop the official MechWorks PDM training materials and have deep hands-on experience across the full product suite. Our team is fluent in major CAD platforms, including SolidWorks, Inventor, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and DraftSight, as well as the Microsoft technologies that power automation and integration, such as .NET, SQL, Office, and Windows environments. We continuously invest in ongoing education to ensure our trainers stay current with the latest tools, features, and best practices so your team benefits from proven knowledge and modern workflows.
Training with us doesn't just teach software. It builds confidence, improves efficiency, and sets your organization up for long-term success with MechWorks PDM.
Custom Services
For many organizations, especially those managing legacy files, evolving CAD platforms, and changing processes, data management can feel like a constant uphill battle. As environments shift — such as moving from 2D to 3D CAD — the way files are stored, referenced, and controlled must evolve as well.
With MechWorks PDM as the foundation, new designs are immediately secured and managed properly. But long-term success depends on more than just software. It requires thoughtful planning, automation, and expert guidance to bring legacy data and existing processes forward without disruption. That's where our experience makes the difference.
Over the years, we've automated and streamlined some of the most complex data challenges organizations face, including:
- Legacy file and folder analysis to uncover duplicates, conflicts, and inefficiencies to reduce clutter for optimal system performance
- Metadata comparison, validation, and synchronization across databases, spreadsheets, and disconnected systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Batch registration of legacy data, capturing complete revision history inside MechWorks PDM
- Intelligent data extraction from a single string (perhaps a legacy file's name) that is used to populate particular fields within a database (perhaps segregating the Part Number, the Revision, and the Description accordingly)
- Workflow and process optimization with email communications
- Seamless integrations between MechWorks PDM and ERP/MRP/SAP systems to eliminate manual data entry and reduce costly errors
Behind every solution is a set of modular, proven utilities designed to handle the toughest scenarios, efficiently and reliably.
Each project we take on is managed with care and transparency. We work closely with your team to fully understand your goals, then structure the project into clearly defined milestones that are tested and validated along the way. Our guiding principle is “Communication and Visibility” — ensuring you always know what's happening, why it matters, and what comes next.
The result is a trusted partnership that minimizes risk, eliminates surprises, and delivers a data management environment you can rely on as your organization continues to grow and evolve.
Glossary
Document Management
Document management is the process of organizing and controlling files so they are created, updated, shared, and revision controlled correctly. It ensures everyone is using the right file at the right time and that important documents are not lost or overwritten.
Workgroup PDM
Workgroup PDM does not reference a particular application or size of an organization. It describes a less restrictive data management environment that focuses on protecting files and controlling revisions without heavy rules or compliance requirements. It works well for teams that need basic lifecycle control, automation, and protection from accidental data loss, regardless of company size.
Enterprise PDM
Enterprise PDM does not reference a particular application or size of an organization. It refers to a more structured and controlled data management environment designed to meet strict process compliance requirements (such as FAA, FDA, or ISO). It includes advanced features like workflows, permissions, auditing, and reporting to ensure data is managed consistently and securely across the organization.
DBWorks
DBWorks is MechWorks' original product data management solution, initially developed for SolidWorks users. It serves as the foundation for related solutions like DBInventor and DBSolidEdge, which support other CAD platforms.
Replication
Replication allows design data to be shared across multiple physical locations. MechWorks PDM supports full replication (where all approved data is shared with all sites) and partial replication, (where only selected data is shared with specific sites). Metadata is synchronized in real time, while large design files are transferred only when needed, helping conserve bandwidth and maintain performance.
