Microsoft's multi-phase deprecation plan for VBScript needs to be understood.
In 2024, Microsoft began its initial deprecation plans for VBScript, knowing that it will be sometime in 2027 when it makes more significant changes regarding VBScript's "end-life-timeline". The goal was to allow application developers time to address how they needed to implement alternative solutions that no longer rely on VBScript.
When MechWorks introduced R25, they began the process of supporting limited replacement of VBScript. In 2026, with the release of R26, MechWorks fully supports the replacement of VBScript using either PowerShell or Python. Once SP 1.0 (or later) is released, we encourage all customers to migrate to the R26 version of MechWorks PDM and to begin to address their migration away from VBScript by working towards either PowerShell or Python scripts. R26 SP 1.0 is scheduled to be released during the summer of 2026.
Please feel free to contact us at support@na-ips.com if you have any questions and to ensure that you have proper access to the R26 version of MechWorks PDM.
